六尺巷的故事

清康熙年間，禮部尚書張英老家桐城的老宅與吳家為鄰，兩家之間有個(gè)空地做通道。
后來鄰居吳家建房，要占用空地，張家不同意，雙方將官司打倒縣衙門。
張家人寫信給張英，求其出面干涉。張英回信寫了四句話：

讓他三尺又何妨？
萬里長城今猶在，
不見當(dāng)年秦始皇。
